Description
For folks looking for entertainment apart from the usual Saturday night movie, Old West Melodrama has the answer. Old West Melodrama is the only performing group in the greater Houston area that offers melodramas year round. The troupe is gearing up for the premiere of “D.K. Molar and the Devious Dentist”, which will run through the month of February. The production opens at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10 at Puffabellys Restaurant in Old Town Spring. Puffabellys is located at 100 Main Street Spring, TX 77373. Joe Cole, producer of Old West Melodrama, says this show will be sure to entertain. “It’s our job to make sure that everyone is having a good time,” he said. “Interacting with the audience is what makes melodramas fun and different. We have popcorn available for viewers to use at their discretion.” Old West Melodrama performances feature “live” silent film theme-music to guide the emphasized plot and exaggerated emotion that drive each character, villain or hero. The troupe is comprised of diverse, talented actors from varied backgrounds who are skilled at improvisation. “D. K. Molar and the Devious Dentist” follows dentist D. K. Molar and his nurse Nova Caine as they construct a dishonest plan to cheat their clients. The receptionist Flossy Daily and an upstanding young dentist Phil de Tooth discover their dishonest practice and chaos ensues. Show Date and Times: Fridays, Feb. 10, 17 and 24 8 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 11, 18 and 25 8 p.m. There is pre-show entertainment before each show from 7:00 to 7:40 p.m. During this time, the audience can enjoy dinner from Puffabelly’s selected menu.
